See Disneyland’s Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Come Together In New Video

A new video gives fans a look at the ongoing construction site for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

Announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger in 2015, the Star Wars theme park is set to open in two locations next year: Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, as well as Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida. Construction immediately started after a few months and both projects are on schedule to hit their target opening date. Last month, we saw some concept art for the two locations of the forthcoming Star Wars resort, this time, a new promo video offers a sneak peek at the construction process at the site.

The aerial video comes courtesy of Disney Parks’ YouTube channel. Clocking in at less than a minute, the clip shows fans of the grounds that Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be located and while there really aren’t any specific details revealed, the sheer magnitude of the upcoming feature is enough for fans to get excited. Several buildings are still being constructed and although it’s quite difficult to imagine that the site will eventually end up as the concept art at this time, we have faith that Disneyland can successfully pull this enormous project off. Check it out above.

Aside from the various features in the theme park, a brand new hotel will rise at the heart of Walt Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Specifically for fanatics who think day trips are not enough to fully explore the upcoming Disneyland offering, this allows guest to stay a night or two in the park. Considering that the point of the whole project is offer fans an immersive Star Wars experience outside just watching the films and reading the books, we expect that hotel’s interiors will be full of interesting decor and pieces reminiscent of the galaxy far, far away. Further, all hotel room windows will give visitors a view of space, giving off the vibe that patrons are aboard a starcruiser taking off from Earth and making its way to Batuu – a new planet that is dubbed a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge. The attraction is also where fans can buy plush Toydarian Toys, visit a cantina with musical entertainment, and the ability to attempt to beat Han Solo’s legendary Kessel Run story by flyying the Millennium Falcon.

2019 is already shaping up to a big year for Star Wars fans. On top of the aforementioned Disneyland theme park, the third and final chapter of the ongoing sequel trilogy is also scheduled to roll out. Helmed and co-written (with Chris Terrio) by the Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, the threequel is set to start filming this summer and will hit theaters December of next year. Depending on when the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will be opening its gates to patrons, the untitled film and the theme park will likely boost people’s interest in the franchise and perhaps will open doors for Lucasfilm to announce future films in their slate.
